Granof Appointed to Governmental Accounting Standards Board
Michael Granof, the Ernst & Young Distinguished Centennial Professor in Accounting, was appointed to the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) by the Financial Accounting Foundation Board of Trustees.
The GASB is an independent, not-for-profit organization that establishes and improves financial accounting and reporting standards for state and local governments.
"Michael Granof has dedicated his academic career to the understanding of financial reporting for government entities," said GASB Chairman Robert Attmore. "His extensive knowledge in this area will be invaluable to GASB deliberations on a number of important initiatives, and we look forward to the benefit of his expertise and insight during his term on the Board."
Granof begins his term July 1, 2010, when he will become one of six part-time members serving on the seven-member board. His term extends until June 30, 2015. Granof was named to a five-year term on the Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board in August.
